Safeguarding & Pastoral Support

Pastoral support

Christ Church is situated at the heart of our Bootle community and serves an increasingly diverse population.  We have a very strong pastoral team, Miss Harvey our Pastoral Manager and Mrs Butler, Pastoral Assistant who work closely with children, parents and school staff to identify any barriers to learning and participation and find ways around these barriers. The team have knowledge of a wide range of support systems available to families and can signpost parents to this support informally or through the Early Help system.

Inclusion Hub

The Pastoral Team work closely with our SEND team forming one Inclusion team who work together to provide academic and pastoral support for children and families across the school. This team strives to ensure that all of our children are safe, happy and can make progress academically and socially which will give them the best chance of achieving their potential. The team ensures that children are able to quickly settle in school, develop positive relationships, access learning and thrive throughout their time at Christ Church. At the end of their time at Christ Church the pastoral team facilitate smooth, well-planned transitions to the next stage of a child’s education.

Operation Encompass

Our school is part of Operation Encompass which is a national scheme that operates jointly between schools and police forces.

Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has experienced domestic abuse.

As a school we have ensured that members of our Safeguarding Team, known as a Key Adults, have been trained in the Operation Encompass procedures allowing us to then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to support the child/ren in our care.

The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 identifies children who experience domestic abuse as victims of domestic abuse in their own right.

We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe this will scheme is extremely beneficial for all those involved.

If you have any questions regarding Operation Encompass, please speak to Miss Harvey or Mrs Butler.

Please contact the school office, should you wish to talk to any of our Pastoral Team.
