We are really pleased with the children’s passion for reading! They are flying through their class reading books and lots of the children are reading every night at home. This is really important in the development of both reading and writing. Just ten minutes per night can make such a difference, so try to set time aside with the TV off to hear them read or chat about their book.
Our children have been excited to see and read in our new school library this week. A core group of pupils worked alongside Miss Gregory to work on ideas for the new library and together with help from the teachers and Teaching Assistants, they have created a special reading space with a woodlands theme with comfy seats and cosy places to squirrel away with a book. The response from the children has made the project worthwhile: “I love the new library with all its decorations, lights, new books and magazines. I really like the storyteller’s chair and the ladybird seats and how Calm it feels in there.”
