This term we have been working on our number recognition and matching amounts of objects to the correct numeral. We have been counting fruit from the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and matching the amounts to number flashcards.
We have also been looking at symmetry, we have been painting patterns on one side of a butterfly and folding it over to make the wings symmetrical.
This term we have had a visit from the Challenge Detective who has been setting us weekly challenges. We have been superstars completing the challenges which have included number recognition games (1-5 and 1-10) and counting out objects to match numbers.
To celebrate Chinese New Year we have been ordering the animals from the story of the Great Race recognising numbers 1-12.
This term we have been singing lots of number songs such as 5 little ducks went swimming one day, 5 green and speckled frogs, 5 little men in a flying saucer and 5 currant buns. We are beginning to count by rote and sort objects by size and colour.
