As a school, we raised £425 on our crazy hair charity day. Have a look at some of the crazy hairstyles we came to school with.
This Easter, we took part in the Easter Experience at school to help us understand more and reflect on the journey Jesus took during Holy Week. It also helped us to think deeper about our R.E topic focusing on trust and betrayal during the Easter Experience.
Walk Like an Egyptian Day
To celebrate our Egyptian topic we had a Walk Like an Egyptian Day. Children came to school in fabulous Egyptian costumes ready for the days activities. We were very lucky to have a real life Egyptologist with us for the day to answer any questions we had and help us learn more about Egypt. Throughout the day we made Egyptian neck jewellery, learnt how to write our names in hieroglyphs, made Egyptian headdresses and sketched Egyptian artefacts. Claire, the Egyptologist, taught us about the mummification processes using a dummy body. We were able to remove the organs just like the Egyptians did and prepare the body for the afterlife. She also taught us the fascinating story of Howard Carter discovering Tutankhamun’s tomb nearly 100 years ago and the treasures they found inside. We had a fantastic, fact filled day!
Local Area Walk
In November we went on a local area walk to Bootle to compare it with the Lake District. We noticed many similarities and differences between the two places.
