In English this term we are reading the story Bog Baby. We will also be exploring the story Wanted a Perfect Pet, Oliver's Vegetables and Oliver's Fruit Salad. We will be exploring and responding to these stories using a range of different skills.
This week our Bog Baby went missing in school! We each made our own missing posters and put them up around school in the hope of finding him soon.
After finding our missing Bog Baby and having lots of fun with him in class, we noticed today that our Bog Baby was looking quite pale and his wings were drooping. After talking as a class we agreed that the Bog Baby is a wild animal and he can't live in our classroom, he can only survive in the wild. As a year group, we took both of our Bog Babies back to the garden to release them back into the wild.
In English this term we are exploring books by the author Julie Donaldson. We will start our author study by reading Stick Man and after half term we will read The Snail and the Whale.
During the Autumn term we will be looking at a variety of Traditional Tales such as Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs. We also look at Seasonal Poetry, including 'Twas the Night Before Christmas which we will also see at the theatre. Other Christmas books include The Jolly Christmas Postman and the Nativity. We can't wait to get stuck into our books!
We have enjoyed reading and retelling the story of Little Red Riding Hood using puppets and role play.
